I realize we don’t even HAVE to send Save the Dates… most people already know the date, the website and how important it is that they call RIGHT NOW to get hotel reservations.
(When I made Bobby’s parents’ reservations over Christmas, they tried to tell me the hotel was COMPLETELY booked! Luckily, they didn’t understand there was a hotel block so the problem was quickly fixed. If you call the Hotel Congress and they try to tell it’s sold out, just double check that they’re booking under our block. It’s a small hotel, and we have about 25 rooms blocked off, but that’s not going to be enough for everyone. If the Hotel Congress is booked, just give Inn Suites a call, which also has a room block. Do this now because University of Arizona Homecoming is the same weekend!)
Anyway, back to Save the Dates, or STDs as they are known through wedding planning circles (go ahead and giggle… it’s ok) So I wanted them out by January. Well… January turned into February and now we’re on the cusp of March. Sigh. 8 months in advance is more than the recommended time, but I just want to give friends and family a chance to plan and save. I realize it’s going to be hard for people to travel with the economy and I want them to have the advantage of time on their side. We booked it in downtown Tucson so people wouldn’t have to rent cars to get around, but I know that airfare is expensive. I also realize that people’s thoughts and wishes and hearts will be with us in Tucson, even if they can’t make the trip.
Anyway, my point! This morning I got an e-mail that our postcards have been shipped (hooray!) Which means they’ll be addressed, stamped and to sent to everyone in about a week or so. Thank goodness! Let us know what you think when they arrive!
Julia
